Elgeyo Marakwet Issues Ksh73 Million Bursaries to Support Needy Learners

The County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet County has disbursed Ksh73 million in bursaries to support education for thousands of learners drawn from vulnerable families across the county.

According to the County Government, a record 7,284 beneficiaries received the education support targeting students in secondary schools, Vocational Training Centres (VTCs), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, colleges and universities.

Speaking during the issuance of the bursaries, Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich said the programme is aimed at easing the financial burden faced by vulnerable households and ensuring more learners remain in school.

Rotich noted that the bursary fund is part of the county’s broader efforts to promote equal access to education.
