A family in Kimatisio Village, Chepalungu Sub-County, Bomet County, is mourning the tragic loss of three children who died after a fire razed their house in the early hours of Wednesday, July 1.
The family of Boniface Kirui and the entire Kimatisio community are in deep grief following the heartbreaking incident, which occurred at around 1:00 a.m. under circumstances that remain unclear.
According to Victor Bii, a resident of Kimatisio, the fire started in the kitchen where the children were sleeping. He noted that the kitchen was not connected to electricity, raising questions about the cause of the fire.
“We have many unanswered questions. The house connected to electricity was not affected. Recently, a vehicle was stolen and a shop was broken into in this area. We are appealing for thorough investigations,” said Bii
Residents have called on security agencies and investigative authorities to expedite investigations into the incident and establish the cause of the fire, while also addressing the growing insecurity concerns in the area.
The bodies of the three children were taken to Longisa Referral Hospital Mortuary as investigations continue.
