Dr Joyce Laboso Memorial Hospital Launch Sparks Jubilation in Bomet
By Festus Ronoh – Bomet County
Bomet County was engulfed in jubilation as President William Ruto officially launched the Dr Joyce Laboso Memorial Mother and Child Wellness Centre, in a colourful ceremony attended by hundreds of residents.
The launch, held during the President’s visit to the county, was marked by excitement and emotional memories of the late Dr Joyce Laboso, Bomet’s second governor, whose legacy continues to resonate with residents.

The facility, named in her honour, is expected to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services in the county by providing improved access to specialised services for mothers and children.
Residents who attended the launch described the facility as a fitting tribute to Dr Laboso, who served as governor from 2017 until her death in July 2019.
The unveiling of the memorial facility brought together national and county government officials, local leaders and residents, many of whom paid tribute to the late governor’s contribution to Bomet’s development.

President Ruto said the government would continue investing in healthcare infrastructure to improve the quality and accessibility of medical services for Kenyans.
For Bomet residents, the launch was not only a milestone in healthcare development but also a moment to remember a leader whose name remains deeply etched in the county’s history.
