The Deputy Governor of Narok County, Tamalinye Koech, has officially opened the Rift Valley Region Secondary Schools Sports Association Games, welcoming participants from across the region and assuring them of the county’s full support during the three-day competition.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Koech said all 14 counties in the Rift Valley region had successfully arrived in Narok and were ready to compete in various sporting disciplines.

He encouraged the students to make the most of the opportunity by showcasing their talents, noting that many of Kenya’s renowned athletes and sports personalities were first identified through school competitions.
“The games provide a platform for young people to discover and develop their talents. Many of the heroes we celebrate today were first spotted through school sports,” he said.
Koech reaffirmed the Narok County Government’s commitment to nurturing sports talent, highlighting initiatives such as the Ntutu Cup, which has helped identify and develop promising athletes within the county.
He further assured participants, officials, and spectators that adequate security, healthcare services, and other essential facilities had been put in place to ensure the tournament runs smoothly.
“We have provided sufficient security, health services, and all the necessary arrangements to make these games successful. We are confident the competitions will be peaceful, competitive, and memorable for all participants,” she said.
The Deputy Governor wished all teams success in the competition and expressed confidence that the games would strengthen unity, friendship, and sportsmanship among students from across the Rift Valley region.
