Justice for Angata Six: MP Ngeno, Demand Arrest of Suspected GSU Officers

A section of leaders from Narok County are calling for swift action on police officers who allegedly shot and killed six residents in Angata Barikoi, Transmara South.
Led by Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno and Narok Deputy Governor Tamalinye Koech, the leaders demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible, believed to be GSU officers.
Speaking in Keturo, Angata Barikoi, MP Ngeno expressed outrage over what he described as “unjustified killings” of innocent civilians during a land dispute.
“These were unarmed locals. The GSU officers who pulled the trigger must face justice,” said Ngeno. The government has the ability and authority to act, what we need now is political goodwill.”
Narok Deputy Governor Tamalinye Koech echoed Ngeno’s sentiments, vowing to protect the land rights of the local community. He dismissed claims from individuals in Kuria East, Migori County, who have laid claim to the disputed land.
“This land rightfully belongs to the people of Angata. Any claim from Kuria East is an outright trespass,” said Koech. “As a county government, we will do everything in our power to ensure that our people are protected and that they retain full legal ownership of their ancestral land.”
The killings which occurred a month ago, have stirred deep anger and tension in the region, prompting local leaders to rally for justice and long-term solutions to the recurring land conflicts.
“We won’t allow our people to be intimidated or displaced in their own land,” Koech added.
The leaders are now urging the national government to act decisively to prevent further violence and deliver justice to the families affected
