Kenya Seed Company Marks 70th Anniversary in Kitale

Agriculture Principal Secretary Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh presided over Kenya Seed Company’s 70th Anniversary celebrations in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.
The event brought together stakeholders from Kenya and across the region, including Rwanda, DRC, Uganda and Tanzania.
PS Ronoh said the celebration underscored the need to ensure farmers access quality seed in sufficient quantities, strengthen regional collaboration, and embrace innovation and technology to address climate change effects.
He said the Government plans to construct 50 dams to enhance water availability and accelerate transition from rain-fed to irrigation-based agriculture.
The PS assured farmers of adequate seed stocks in the country and urged Kenya Seed Company and NCPB to immediately implement the new reduced prices of seeds and fertiliser.
He also directed distribution of one tonne of sunflower seed to farmers to boost production and diversification.
He was accompanied by Kenya Seed Company Managing Director Sammy Chepsiror, Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang and other stakeholders.
