Kenya Tourism Week 2026 Closes In Eldoret With A Bold Future Message
By Isaac Kogey | ELDORET,
The curtains have fallen on Kenya Tourism Week 2026 at the University of Eldoret – and what a week it was!
For seven days, Eldoret was not just a city, it was Kenya’s tourism capital. The North Rift shone, and Kenya’s evolving tourism story came alive.

Under the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” the week was more than talk. It was tech meets experience – AI powering destination marketing, exhibitions bursting with innovation, culture on display, gastronomy, adventure, and real community vibes.
And tourism broke out of the campus! The destination caravan and road trips took participants into the heart of North Rift – waterfalls, farms, hills, heritage and untold beauty.

But nothing stole the show like Eldoret’s heartbeat – the Home of Champions. Over 30 athletics legends, led by the iconic Kipchoge Keino, lit up the city in the symbolic Legends Run – proof that Kenya’s sporting heritage is tourism gold!
From hot-air balloon views to electric cultural nights, from sports to clean-ups and tree growing – it was adventure, sustainability and entertainment all in one.

The grand finale today, marking UN Tourism Day 2026, was graced by Tourism CS Rebecca Miano as Chief Guest, accompanied by PS Amb. Prof. Julius Bitok.

One message rang loud from Eldoret: Kenya’s tourism is no longer just beach and bush. It’s sports, it’s culture, it’s food, it’s innovation, it’s people.
