By Isaac Kogei | ELDORET, KENYA,

Vivo Energy Kenya on Sunday celebrated more than 100 mechanics from across the North Rift during its 2nd annual Mechanics Wellness Day in Eldoret, recognising the role they play in powering Kenya’s transport, agriculture and business sectors.

Held under the theme “Celebrating the People Behind Kenya’s Mobility Ecosystem”, the event combined health screenings, sports, and awards as Shell Lubricants reaffirmed its commitment to mechanics’ wellbeing and professional growth.

Speaking at the ceremony, Stephen Gikonyo, Lubricants & LPG Sales and Marketing Manager at Vivo Energy Kenya, said mechanics are the backbone of Kenya’s economy.

“Behind every safe journey, every successful delivery and every harvest is a mechanic whose expertise makes it possible. Through Shell Lubricants, we are proud to invest in their health, skills and wellbeing,” he said.

The day featured football, pool, darts, and free health checks. Ezra Omwancha of Equity Afya noted that mechanics face unique occupational hazards and need regular wellness support to keep serving the transport and agricultural sectors.

Vivo Energy Kenya said it will continue supporting mechanics through technical training, safety education, and access to quality lubrication solutions as part of its broader commitment to Kenya’s mobility ecosystem.
