Narok MCAs Call for EACC Probe into Ksh 200 Million Bursary “Scandal”
By Nicholas Rono
A section of Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Narok County have called upon the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to launch an investigation into an alleged misappropriation of bursary funds amounting to Ksh 200 million. The scandal involves bounced cheques that were issued to students.
Speaking to the press in Narok Town, Mogondo MCA Kipsang Mibei urged the EACC to initiate a thorough probe into the misuse of the bursary funds, which were intended to support students from humble backgrounds in accessing education.
Ololmasani MCA Mwalimu Kipkoech Tembur added that the Narok County Government, led by Governor Ntutu, should come out clean and explain why the bursary funds were not disbursed to the intended beneficiaries. He termed the failure a deliberate act of sabotaging educational progress in the county.
Other MCAs who pointed fingers at the Ntutu administration include Kipngeno Chepkwony of Mara Ward and Ezekiel Kosgey of Ilkerin Ward. They accused Governor Ntutu of poor governance and intentional sabotage of the county’s development agenda.
