Nakuru DG dismisses allegations of sideline

By Sylvester Rono

Nakuru Deputy Governor David Kones has dismissed talk going round the county that he has taken study leave away from work and has not been able to discharge his mandate effectively.

Speaking in his office in Milimani, Kones said that since Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika took her maternity leave, he was given mandate to manage affairs of the county and has been diligently doing it without fail.

“I was shocked to hear some of these allegations, I have been moving around opening projects, launching others, hosting delegations and holding meetings with county teams, unless the term leave has lost the meaning”, he said.

He took a swipe at some of the opponents of the county government for spreading hearsay and propaganda meant to tarnish the reputation of the county government and particularly the Governor.

“Giving birth is a natural thing that happens to any human being, it’s not restricted to a certain class of individuals and therefore we should accord respect and give space”, he added.

Kones called on the elected leaders in charge of oversighting the county government to play their role effectively and ensure that they do for the good of the people.

End.
