KCB Bank has partnered with Mastercard to roll out an Islamic finance payments solution under its Sahl Banking offering, introducing the Sahl Card and the Sahl Agency Banking Network to expand access to Shariah-compliant financial services.

The Sahl Card is designed in line with Islamic finance principles, allowing customers to make everyday purchases and payments through a secure and convenient platform while remaining aligned with their values and financial preferences.

The bank has also launched the Sahl Agency Banking Network, enabling customers to deposit funds, withdraw cash, make payments, and access essential banking services through agents.

KCB Group Director of Strategy and Innovation, Mark Mwongela, said the new offering reflects the bank’s commitment to providing financial solutions that meet the diverse needs of its customers.

“We remain committed to developing financial solutions that reflect the diverse needs and aspirations of our customers. The Sahl Card represents an important step in expanding access to Shariah-compliant banking solutions by providing customers with a secure, convenient, and values-driven payment option that supports their everyday financial and lifestyle needs,” he said.

The Sahl Card offers customers a range of travel and lifestyle benefits through Mastercard’s global network. Mastercard World Elite and Gold Credit Card holders will enjoy exclusive offers on accommodation, dining, shopping and leisure experiences, while eligible customers will also have access to The Mastercard Collection, a suite of curated travel, dining and lifestyle experiences available in select destinations.

Additional features include spend management controls, transaction alerts, concierge services and an Islamic-themed card design tailored to the target market.

Mastercard Senior Vice President and Country Manager for East Africa and Indian Ocean Islands, Shehryar Ali, said the partnership supports efforts to build a more inclusive digital economy by offering payment solutions that align with customers’ values and lifestyles.

“Our collaboration with KCB gives consumers a payment solution built around their values and lifestyle. By combining our global network with KCB’s deep local expertise, we are connecting the Islamic banking community to the experiences and passions that matter most to them,” he said.

The partnership strengthens KCB’s Islamic banking offering by combining Shariah-compliant financial services with secure digital payments and enhanced lifestyle benefits, providing customers with greater convenience while expanding access to inclusive banking solutions.
