KCA University Unveils Bold Alumni Strategy to Drive Jobs, Mentorship and Growth
By Shadrack Mutai – Nairobi, Kenya
A renewed vision for alumni engagement took center stage as KCA University unveiled an ambitious five-year Alumni Engagement Strategic Plan (2026–2030), positioning its 40,000-strong alumni network as a powerful engine for employment, mentorship, and economic growth.
The strategy was launched during the University’s Annual Alumni Reunion held on Saturday, April 25 at Safari Park Hotel, under the theme “Back to Where It All Began.” More than a nostalgic homecoming, the event marked a decisive shift in how the institution engages its graduates—moving from passive affiliation to an active, outcomes-driven partnership.
At the heart of the new blueprint is a structured model designed to enhance employability, expand professional networks, and strengthen long-term institutional growth. Speaking during the launch, Vice Chancellor and CEO Isaiah I.C. Wakindiki emphasized the transformative intent behind the initiative, noting that the University is building a results-oriented ecosystem where mentorship, opportunity, and innovation converge to deliver real impact for graduates and the broader economy.
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Alumni Mentorship Programme, a platform designed to directly connect graduates with career opportunities, industry leaders, and professional networks, effectively bridging the gap between education and the job market. The five-year plan is anchored on Lifecycle Engagement, Employability Integration, Community Infrastructure, Alumni Advancement, and Data & Governance, all geared toward turning alumni into active contributors to both the University and the wider economy.
By 2030, the institution is targeting a significant rise in graduate employment, thousands of active mentorship connections, expanded regional and diaspora alumni chapters, and increased alumni-driven income.
To reinforce delivery, the University has partnered with key private-sector players, integrating real-world value into the alumni experience. Mobility support was provided by Uber, while BrighterMonday powered a dedicated Career Corner offering alumni direct access to job opportunities, recruitment networks, and career development resources. In a nod to holistic well-being, AAR Healthcare provided complimentary on-site health screenings.
Far from a traditional reunion, the event was curated as an immersive engagement platform featuring business exchange opportunities, mentorship sign-ups, cohort meet-ups, and academic progression advisory services, all designed to foster meaningful connections and unlock opportunity.
The day culminated in the official launch of the Strategic Plan and Mentorship Programme, followed by the Alumni Association AGM and a Gala Dinner that blended reflection with forward-looking ambition.
