CCTV Cuts Motorcycle Theft in Narok, Riders Praise Security Partnership
By Nicholas Rono
Motorcycle theft in Narok town has seen a sharp decline following the installation of CCTV cameras and strengthened collaboration between boda boda operators, security agencies, and the Narok County Government.
Speaking to Kass Digital, Boda Boda Association chairman Lemayian Punyua credited the success to this joint effort, calling it a “turning point” in the fight against theft.
“For years, we’ve lived in fear, losing motorcycles almost daily,” said Punyua. “But now, with the cameras in place and better cooperation with police, our town is safer, and riders are more hopeful.”
He urged fellow operators to remain vigilant, especially at night, and to always secure their bikes at home.
Punyua also called on riders with outstanding loans to stick to their repayment plans, warning that ignoring payment agreements could lead to repossession.
“Many riders have already lost their bikes due to unpaid debts. Let’s be responsible and protect our livelihoods,” he said.
