Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has warned political leaders against allowing their differing political ideologies to threaten the unity and cohesion of Kenyans.

Speaking during an empowerment event for Small Scale Traders SACCOs in South Mugirango Constituency, Kisii County, Kindiki emphasized that Kenya remains one nation and one people, regardless of political differences.

In what appeared to be a veiled response to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s recent remarks suggesting a possibility of electoral violence in 2027, Kindiki called for responsible leadership that prioritizes national unity.

“There is no other Kenya. This is home for all of us, and we must guard its peace and unity,” he said.

He further assured small-scale traders of the government’s continued support, noting that empowering them is part of a long-term national development strategy that goes beyond electoral cycles.

“We are not doing this because there is an election around the corner—we are doing this because you are a critical pillar of our economy,” he stated.
