The Ad Hoc Committee on Public Services Grills Baringo Leaders Over Biased Hiring and Delayed Pay

The Ad Hoc Committee on Public Services’ witness hearing session Chaired by Hon Jeruto Kiptala accused County senior staff of unfair recruitment of staff, deayed salaries payments and lack of inclusion on maginalised and persons with disabilities.

 

Two CECM Health Solomom Sirma, Roads Lekonaya Kipwalel, County Secretary Jacob Chepkwony and Chief of Staff Julius Bett had difficulty the process of recruiting staff who work in almost all departments. Dr Solomom Sirma had no knowledge of the number of Doctors employed in the county referring it to Director of Helath.

 

The embarrassing Committee sessions at the Assembly before MCAs where it was discovered that over 1,000 casual workers are yet to receive their salaries for eight months. The office of the County Secretary Mr Jacob Chepkwony was accused of recruiting close friends and relatives whom had worked on probation for three months, leaving out staff on duty for the last two years.

 

The Committee Chaired initial meetings in six Sub Counties with casual workers on contracts services that exposed Baringo County Public Service Board (BCPSB) of corruption and unfair recruitment.

 

The Baringo County Assembly constituted the Ad Hoc Committee to scrutinise complains from citizens of bribery, nepotism. This came out following complains from Hon Sharon Keter that employment in the county is shared among siblings, and friends of senior members of the County.

The Ad Hoc Committee on Public Services is Chaired by Hon Jeruto Kiptala with Sharon Keter (KANU), Mark Sialo, Mogotio Ward, Sam Lokales, Tirioko Ward, John Aengwo, Saimo Kipsaraman, Julius Ngotie, Eldama Ravine Town, David Sitoi, Bartabwa Ward and Wesley Lekakimon Illchamus Ward (ODM).

The Committee tomorrow continues with its sessions before closings it’s seatings in July and submit this findings before a whole House for recommendations and actions against officials said to compromise their ethics and standards of employment of the County.
