Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has affirmed the government’s commitment to serve all Kenyans equally, regardless of how they voted.

Speaking in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County, during a small-scale traders’ empowerment event, Kindiki dismissed calls for selective development based on political affiliation.

“It’s wrong — and unconstitutional — to suggest that only areas which voted for Kenya Kwanza should benefit more. Every Kenyan deserves equal access to development. As Deputy President, I will ensure that all regions are treated fairly in our economic agenda,” he said.

Kindiki stressed that national unity must be reflected in government programs, adding that development is a right, not a political reward.

He further explained that empowerment initiatives led by government and local leaders are designed to complement broader national programs like the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) and Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation (KJET).

“Our mission is to go the extra mile in creating opportunities. NYOTA and KJET are already working to support youth and entrepreneurs. What we are doing through these empowerment events is reinforcing that mission,” Kindiki noted.

He also addressed critics who question the need for such initiatives, saying even small efforts can spark big change.

“There are people who think such programs aren’t necessary just because they’re well off. But imagine a Mama Mboga doubling her income — that’s not just life-changing for her family, it uplifts a whole community.”

The Deputy President reaffirmed the government’s dedication to reducing inequality and creating inclusive growth across all regions.
