Baringo Kicks Off Public Participation on 2025/26 Budget Estimates Amid Deficit Concerns

Baringo County Government budget estimates goes to citizens’ public participation as the National Assembly and County Assemblies to beat the appropriation Bill timelines.
Through a circular written by Baringo County Assembly Clerk Winnie Chemase, the County Assembly Budget committee are in three days haste to accommodate seven Sub-Counties of Baringo Central, Baringo North, Baringo South, Mogotio Constituency, Eldama Ravine and Tiaty East and West.
The Ks.8B budget estimates of revenue and expenditure for financial year 2025-2026 is running less of Ks.229M following last year June, 2024 demonstrations.
On Day one Public participation at Kabarnet Public Park in Kabarnet citizens ventilated through the budget estimates chaired by Area MCA Arnest Kibet who doubles up as Chair-Budget and Appropriation Committee where locals questions changes made by County executive and Assembly in the past Public engagement.

David Chongwo from Ewolel Chechep said some of the key projects are missing during evaluation and implementation of projects they had priority over. The County Government remains on spot on delayed and poor workmanship in County ongoing and completed projects affirm Mr Chongwo.
Baringo County Government Budget estimates is lower compares to 2024-2025 Fiscal year with a deficit of 900M from 8.9B to this financial year of 8B. Out of the this year budget, the county receives Ks. 7B from the Exchequer, Ks. 600 own source revenue, Ks. 500M on conditional grants.
Some of projects that are yet to commission in Baringo includes Maoi Arbartoir, Eldama Ravine Milk processing, and Barwesa Livestock Auction Yard and Kabarnet Stadium that has taken more eight years.
