By Festus Ronoh – Bomet County

Hundreds of young people in Bomet, Kericho and Narok Counties have benefited from the second tranche of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Programme funds during a disbursement exercise held at Bomet Stadium.

The event was led by Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir as part of a nationwide rollout of the programme aimed at empowering youth through financial support to strengthen businesses and promote agricultural activities.

Speaking during the event, Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir said the government remains committed to empowering young people economically by providing affordable financial support to enable them to venture into entrepreneurship and modern farming.

He said the NYOTA Programme is designed to unlock the potential of the youth by providing financial assistance that will help them establish and expand businesses, embrace agribusiness, and improve their livelihoods.

The Cabinet Secretary urged beneficiaries to invest the funds prudently and ensure the projects they undertake generate sustainable income while creating employment opportunities for other young people.

Beneficiaries welcomed the initiative, saying the funds would enable them to expand their businesses, purchase farm inputs, and improve their household incomes.

The programme is being implemented across the country to support youth-led enterprises and enhance economic empowerment through entrepreneurship, agribusiness, and skills development.

Also present at the event were Principal Secretary Julius Korir, Principal Secretary Aurelia Ronoh, Principal Secretary Dr. Paul Rono, and other national and county government leaders from Bomet, Narok, and Kericho counties, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting youth empowerment and economic transformation through strategic investment programmes.

The leaders encouraged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the funds to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the socio-economic development of their communities.
