KENYA PIPELINE COMPANY FLAGS OFF UNDER-20 WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM THAT WILL REPRESENT KENYA IN CONTINENTAL GAMES IN EGYPT

Kenya Pipeline Company PLC has today flagged off its Under 20 Women’s volleyball team flying out to Egypt to represent Kenya in the upcoming Confédération africaine de volleyball (CAVB)  championships to be held this  month in Egypt.

 

Speaking during the flagging off ceremony, Mr Joe Sang, Managing Director at KPC expressed confidence in the team saying consistency, discipline and commitment qualities that define their journey. He  urged the team to exude teamwork, trust and tenacity at all times, emphasising that these  values  will be key to ensure they bring home the winning trophy.

 

“ Our team emerged as the third best team in Africa in 2024 and 2025 consecutively. This year, your victory will help elevate Kenya’s name and our brand as a company.  Victory for our team will be defined by how well we play as a united team. Support one another. Trust one another and be resilient during the games. Respect decisions made by the technical bench and we will have synergy that is necessary for a great win,” MD Sang said.

On top of the team’s sponsorship, MD Sang said KPC will offer a reward of Ksh 1 million when the team qualifies for the semis and a further Ksh 2 million when it proceeds to the finals while a gold victory will be handsomely rewarded with a bigger surprise.

 

The team has also roped in services of new sign-ins selected from last year’s national volleyball championships with some as young as 16 and 17 years respectively.

 

The team’s head coach Geoffrey Omondi said they have started residential training  at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani ahead of final selection of the premier team that will represent KPC in the Egypt event.

The African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Championships are premier continental volleyball tournaments in Africa that bring together the best teams across the continents to determine the top national teams (Nations Championships) or clubs (Clubs Championships) and act as qualifiers for major events like the FIVB Volleyball World Championships.

 

The tournament will start on 13th April and run through 24th April 2026.

 

Present during the event was Sports Stadia representative Mr Japheth Kaunyu.
