Kenyans back Anne Amadi for IEBC top job
By Samson Kurgat
A recent survey by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) reveals that 41% of Kenyans prefer Anne Amadi to be the next chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), with support particularly strong in Nairobi and the Nyanza region. Other contenders include Charles Nyachae with 23% support, Erastus Ethekon at 15%, and Abdulqadir Ramadhan with 12%.

The position of IEBC chairperson became vacant following the departure of the late Wafula Chebukati.
The TIFA findings offer a snapshot of public opinion ahead of the appointment, indicating a clear lead for Amadi among the Kenyan electorate.
However, a majority of Kenyans (55%) lack confidence that the vetting process was based on merit, with many believing that public trust has been heavily shaped of credibility issues of previous elections.
