Tragedy in Kapsisiywo as Well-Known Businessman Dies by Suicide

By Robert Siele

A cloud of sorrow hangs heavily over Kapsisiywo village in Chepkoinik Location, Ainamoi Constituency, Kericho County, following the sudden and tragic death of a well-known businessman, Francis Too.

The 40-year-old father of two was found on Thursday morning after taking his own life in a quiet corner of his homestead. He had been home alone—his wife and children had left earlier for work and school.

Chepkoinik Location Chief, Stephen Sang, confirmed the heartbreaking incident.

“I was at Kapsoit Police Station on official duty when I received a distress call from Kapsisiywo. I rushed to the scene with officers and sadly found Francis Too’s body hanging from a tree,” Chief Sang said.

Francis, a familiar face in Kapsoit trading center where he ran a cybercafé, had recently been discharged from hospital after undergoing a minor surgical procedure. Friends say he had been in high spirits before his hospitalization late last month—but something had changed.

“He was jovial, full of life,” said Abdi Sheikh, his longtime business partner. “On Monday, I visited him after hearing he was asking for me. He looked weak but was discharged that same day. I never imagined that would be our last conversation.”

Family members and neighbors grew concerned when they hadn’t seen Francis that morning and decided to check on him—only to discover the tragic scene.

“He had been unwell for a while,” said Chief Sang. “But this loss is devastating. We urge anyone going through difficult times to seek support, speak to someone, and know they’re not alone.”

As police launch investigations, Francis’ body has been moved to Siloam Hospital mortuary.
