Parents Urged to Prioritize Good Upbringing and Moral Values

Parents have been urged to take responsibility for the moral upbringing of their children and strengthen family values as the foundation of a better society.
Speaking during the funeral service of the late Mama Selina Obot Chemurer at Kiptaragon in Olenguruone, the General Overseer of New Jerusalem Seventh Day Church, Joseph Soy, emphasized the critical role of family in nation-building.

“Family is the pillar of any nation. Unfortunately, men are no longer fulfilling their responsibilities. You will often find women desperately seeking attention outside because of neglect at home,” said Overseer Soy.
He strongly criticized the growing trend of parental negligence, particularly highlighting the absence of fathers in many homes. According to him, the current wave of unrest and demonstrations across the country is partly a result of this breakdown in the family unit.
“These demonstrations are happening because we’ve failed as parents. We should not allow our children to risk their lives in the streets in the name of fighting for their rights,” he stated.

Overseer Soy called on all parents to lead by example, take charge of their families, and instill values that promote discipline, responsibility, and patriotism among the youth.
