Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ngeno has reaffirmed that secure land ownership remains the bedrock of sustainable development, economic growth and lasting peace in Narok County.
Sharing his sentiments on his social media page, the outspoken legislator, who has been at the forefront of land matters in Angata Barikoi, reiterated that residents must have absolute certainty over their land rights in order to plan and invest in their future.
“When residents are assured of secure land ownership, they are empowered to plan and invest in their future with certainty, fostering sustainable development, economic growth and social stability for present and future generations,” he said.

He was part of the delegation that first met opinion leaders at Angata Girls before addressing residents at Angata Maranathan Church, where Ngeno revealed that the long-standing Angata Barikoi land dispute in Kilgoris Constituency is now on a promising path to resolution following constructive engagements with the local community.
“Today, we held a candid conversation with the local community on the agreements reached, and I am pleased to note that the issue is well on the way to a lasting solution, paving the way for peace and stability in the region,” he stated.

According to the MP, officials from the Ministry of Lands will be on the ground next week to work hand in hand with residents to survey the agreed division of land parcels. He assured that the process will be conducted with accuracy, fairness and transparency to guarantee trust among all stakeholders.
Also present in the meeting today was PS Lands Nixon Korir, area leaders led by Julius Sunkuli (MP Kilgoris), Joseph Koech (area MCA) amongst other leaders

His remarks come at a time when public outrage and demands for accountability have been growing over the handling of land-related issues in the county.
In June, Ngeno strongly condemned police shootings and attacks on residents of Lolkuruk in the Angama area of Maasai Mara. While addressing mourners at Olorien in Transmara South, where he comforted families who lost loved ones during clashes between locals and police, he called for calm and justice.
“We must find solutions that protect lives, respect rights and ensure that disputes over land are settled with fairness and dignity,” he said.
With the Ministry of Lands set to begin field operations next week, Ngeno expressed optimism that the Angata Barikoi case could become a model for resolving other long-standing disputes across Narok County.
