Narok Marks Madaraka Day with Calls for Unity and Peace

By Nicholas Rono —

Narok County joined the rest of the nation in commemorating Madaraka Day with vibrant celebrations held at Masantare Primary School in Ololulunga Ward, Narok South Sub-county. The event drew a large crowd of residents, government officials, and local leaders, all united under the theme of peace, unity, and inclusive development.

Leading the celebrations was Narok Governor Patrick ole Ntutu, who used the occasion to call for greater cohesion among the county’s diverse communities.

“We must walk together as one people,” Governor Ntutu said in his address. “Narok is home to many communities, and our strength lies in our unity. My administration is committed to ensuring that no part of this county is left behind in terms of development.”

Governor Ntutu reaffirmed his commitment to equitable resource allocation, pledging that every corner of Narok regardless of tribe or region would benefit from the county’s development agenda.

“We will be deliberate and transparent in how we distribute resources,” he added. “Every child, every household, and every village in Narok deserves a fair share of our progress.”

Echoing the governor’s message, Narok County Commissioner Kipkech Lotiatia urged residents to embrace peaceful coexistence, noting that unity was the foundation for prosperity.

“We cannot build Narok in an environment of discord,” Lotiatia said. “Let us respect one another, live together in harmony, and work for the collective good of this beautiful county.”

Leaders in attendance emphasized that the spirit of Madaraka self-governance and responsibility should be reflected not only in national matters but also in how local communities relate with one another.

As festivities concluded with cultural dances, songs, and flag-raising ceremonies, the mood was hopeful a shared vision for a more united and peaceful Narok.
