Narok Governor Condemns Police Brutality, Calls for Justice and Respect for Property

By Nicholas Rono,

Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu has strongly condemned the excessive force used by police during recent protests over land disputes, calling for justice for the victims and urging respect for private property.

Speaking at a thanksgiving and prayer service at Limanet Slaughterhouse near Narok Town, Ntutu said security agencies must exercise restraint and uphold human rights when handling demonstrations.

“It is unacceptable for law enforcement to respond to protests with brutality. Every life matters, and those affected deserve justice,” he said.

While sympathizing with families affected by the violence, Ntutu also urged residents to respect legal land ownership and avoid unlawful invasions.

“We must defend the sanctity of land ownership. Lawlessness, even in protest, cannot be condoned,” the governor added.

He announced plans to personally visit families who lost loved ones or were injured in the clashes, promising to work towards peace and healing in the region.

“My government is committed to standing with the victims and ensuring that both justice and harmony prevail,” he said.

The recent protests, sparked by land disputes in parts of Narok, have left several people injured and others dead, raising concerns over police conduct and the growing tension between residents and authorities.

Governor Ntutu’s remarks come as pressure mounts on national and local leaders to address long-standing land issues and ensure both security and property rights are respected.
