Nakuru MCAs Slam Gachagua Over Remarks on County’s First Gentleman

A section of Nakuru County Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) has strongly criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his recent remarks directed at Nakuru’s First Gentleman, Sam Mburu.

Speaking to the media outside the County Assembly offices, the MCAs—led by Majority Leader William Mutai—issued a stern warning to Gachagua, urging him to steer clear of Nakuru’s politics. They accused the former DP of propagating tribal politics, warning that such sentiments could incite violence in a region known for its cosmopolitan nature.

Their reaction comes after Gachagua claimed that Sam Mburu, husband to Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, had ordered police to block his supporters from entering Nakuru town over the weekend. He further alleged that police were used to disrupt a church service and rally organized by his Democratic Congress Party (DCP) allies in Subukia on Sunday.
The MCAs condemned Gachagua’s claims, saying his attacks on individuals not actively involved in politics were unnecessary and provocative. They maintained that Nakuru remains peaceful and would not tolerate political interference from outsiders.

“Nakuru is peaceful, and we cannot allow people from outside to interfere with our internal affairs,” said nominated MCA Adan Duale. “Instead of attacking individuals, the former DP should focus on telling Kenyans his agenda.”
The MCAs reaffirmed their support for President William Ruto and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), urging leaders to focus on unity and development rather than divisive rhetoric.
