MP Calls for Timely Release of Capitation Funds to Schools

By Robert Siele

Bureti Member of Parliament, Kibet Komingoi, has appealed to the government, through the Ministry of Education, to explore ways of fast-tracking the disbursement of capitation funds to schools to ensure smooth operations.

Komingoi emphasized that the timely release of these funds is crucial for uninterrupted learning, which is the core mandate of education for school-going children.

Speaking during the issuance of bursaries to all public schools in Bureti constituency, the legislator pledged to initiate rehabilitation projects in local schools, including installation of floor tiles and replacement of worn-out roofing.

He also called on the National Treasury to permit the awarding of tenders and contracts in schools as the country awaits a court ruling on the digital transition to e-procurement.

The MP further urged parents and the wider community to actively support school administrations to foster effective and coordinated management of education and learning.
