Mourners gather in Kabarak for burial of KPA CEO Capt. William Ruto’s daughter Mitchelle Kemboi

Thousands of mourners gathered on Saturday afternoon at Kabarak in Nakuru County for the burial of Mitchelle Jelimo Kemboi, the daughter of Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Chief Executive Officer Capt. William K. Ruto.

 

The ceremony brought together family members, national and county leaders, the business community, and friends who turned up in large numbers to offer their condolences and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family.

 

President William Ruto eulogized Mitchelle as a promising young woman whose life was cut short, describing her passing as a profound loss not only to her family but also to the wider community and the nation.

 

 

In a message delivered on his behalf by Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir, the President described the late Mitchelle as a devoted Christian and a committed student who pursued her education with discipline and excellence.

 

“She was a dedicated Christian, a committed student, and a promising young woman whose future was bright,” the message read.

 

Leaders present also commended Capt. Ruto for his leadership at the Kenya Ports Authority, particularly highlighting the transformation of the Port of Mombasa and improved relations between the Authority and the local community.

 

 

The KPA Board and staff, in a message conveyed by Hon. Benjamin Tayari, expressed their deep sympathies to Capt. Ruto and his family during this difficult time.

 

Among the leaders in attendance were Head of Public Service and Chief of Staff Felix Koskei, Cabinet Secretaries Kipchumba Murkomen, Lee Kinyanjui, Geoffrey Ruku and Hanna Cheptumo.

 

Governors present included Susan Kihika, Abdullswamad Nassir, Benjamin Cheboi, Cecily Mbarire, Hillary Barchok, Wisley Rotich and Jonathan Bii.

 

Also in attendance were Principal Secretaries, Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, Members of Parliament, leaders from the business community, CEOs of state corporations, and KPA Board members and staff.
