Lizbaze FC, Kapkugerwet FC Crowned Champions of 2025 KKK Cup Tournament

Lizbaze FC and Kapkugerwet FC have been crowned champions of the fifth edition of the KKK Cup Tournament held at Kiprugut Chumo Stadium in Kericho County.

 

Lizbaze FC clinched the men’s title after edging out Raiders FC from Belgut with a 2–1 victory in a highly competitive match that thrilled supporters.

 

In the women’s category, Kapkugerwet FC secured the championship after defeating Kericho Elites 4–1.

The tournament, initiated by Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, also featured additional sports activities, including volleyball for both men and persons living with disabilities.

 

Senator Cheruiyot noted that the event aims to nurture and promote emerging sports talent.

 

The competition, sponsored by SportPesa—one of the leading sports supporters in Kenya—attracted more than 30 teams competing for a cumulative prize pool of 20 million shillings. SportPesa contributed 15 million shillings in cash prizes along with sports kits.

 

 

Speaking to the press, SportPesa’s Head of Partnerships and Sponsorships, Japheth Akhulia, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering youth through various sports initiatives and providing platforms for talent development.

 

He added that the exceptional skills displayed during the tournament could draw interest from local football clubs looking to recruit new players.

 

Among the dignitaries present were Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, and several other leaders.
