Chief Justice Martha Koome has said that the judiciary is ready to handle and determine all electoral disputes as the country gets ready for the 2027 General Election.
Koome promised that the courts are ready to dispense justice to all aggrieved parties in a fair and timely manner as plans get underway for Kenya’s most anticipated polls, which will be held in August 2027.

The CJ was speaking at a Nairobi hotel during the launch of the Judiciary Committee on Elections Operational Plan 2025 – 2028 where she pledged to fully support the committee as it undertakes its mandate.
The Committee will, among other things, guide the Judiciary towards achieving an effective electoral dispute resolution process in the upcoming election cycle.
She also called on all election stakeholders to continue partnering with judiciary in safeguarding justice and democracy in Kenya.

“Electoral justice is a shared responsibility. Only through sustained collaboration can we achieve a peaceful process that upholds the constitutional vision of free, fair, and credible elections, and strengthens our democracy,” she said.
Her remarks came at a time when the new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson and six commissioners have been sworn into office, two years to 2027 General Election.
Among the first duties for the new commission is to organize by-elections across six constituencies and various wards which have remained vacant due to various reasons, including deaths of the former holders.
