Narok county CEC for public service Josephine Ngeno has called upon parents especially fathers to take a central role in girl-child parenting.

She urged fathers to take their responsibilities seriously in order to bring order and discipline in their families so as to prevent social ills such as early marriages and teen pregnancies.

“Many men have abandoned their fatherly roles and left them to their wives. For this reason many girls have been exposed to many challenges which adversely affect their education. When fathers were real fathers during our times you could not hear early marriages and pre-marital pregnancies like you witness these days. Kindly fathers, let us save our girls,” she said.

Josephine Ngeno at the same time has assured women from Emurua Dikirr constituency that the government is keen to empower them to undertake diverse business activities that will improve their livelihoods.

She affirmed that the women empowerment funds amounting to 41.5 million shillings that were raised a fortnight ago in Emurua Dikirr were safe and that they were finalising mechanisms that will be used to distribute the funds.

“I want to assure you that your money is safe and soon we will fund your groups in order to enhance your businesses and small scale farming. Make sure you use the money wisely and make it a revolving fund in order to enable you grow your ventures.”

The CEC assured the Narok residents that the county government was determined to equally distribute employment opportunities and development projects such as roads, bridges, hospitals and ECD centres to all parts of the county.
