Chepchirchir,Cherotich and Reynold Cheruiyot Shine at Doha Diamond League

Nelly Chepchirchir delivered a masterclass in the women’s 1500m in a tactical racing, surging ahead in the final lap to claim a commanding victory with a time of 4:05.00. She held off a strong challenge from Britain’s Jemma Reekie, who finished second, while fellow Kenyan Susan Ejore secured third place with a time of 4:06.27.
Elsewhere Rynold Cheruiyot sent Kenyan fans into raptures at the Qatar Sports Club, claiming a sensational win in the men’s 5000m. The 21-year-old, primarily a 1500m specialist, unleashed a devastating kick over the final 200m to clock a personal best of 13:16.40 — an incredible feat in just the second 5000m race of his career.
In a dramatic final lap showdown in the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase,Diamond League champion Faith Cherotich battled Olympic gold medalist Winfred Yavi in a thrilling duel. Yavi appeared to have the edge but faltered at the final barrier, allowing Cherotich to storm past and seize victory with a world-leading time of 9:05.08.
Wycliff Kinyamal capped the evening with a solid performance, finishing third in a tightly contested 800m race.
