Bureti National Polytechnic has begun implementing ISO 21001:2025, an internationally recognized standard for Educational Organization Management Systems, marking a major milestone in the South Rift region. This initiative highlights the institution’s strong dedication to delivering learner-focused, inclusive, and high-quality education and training.

During the launch, Principal Sammy Cheruiyot emphasized that the updated ISO 21001:2025 incorporates key elements of Artificial Intelligence (AI), providing a robust framework to enhance institutional management, improve service delivery, and boost student performance.

“The revised ISO edition not only addresses the challenges that we previously had but it also has Artificial Intelligence driven quality assurance mechanisms.” Said Principal Sammy Cheruiyot.

Additionally, the principal announced that the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) has accredited Bureti National Polytechnic as a Qualifications Awarding Institution. Mr Cheruiyot said this achievement comes after thorough audits, curriculum evaluations, and engagement with industry stakeholders and regulators—positioning the polytechnic as a significant contributor to Kenya’s technical and vocational education sector.

“We also have integration of digital systems for audits and performance-tracking for purposes of ensuring there is profitability and great performance.” Added the principal.

According to Joel Nyawita, a trainer at Kericho National polytechnic and also incharge of ISO implementation in the institution, the achievement is a clear indication of demanding work ahead for change and improvement.

“The launch is a statement of our acceptance as an institution of the need to change and improve. It’s an expression of our desire for that change and assures the management of the institution to make it possible.” Nyawita said.
