In a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the County Government of Baringo, NHC will deliver 360 housing units under the national Affordable Housing Programme.
The MoU was signed at a ceremony which took place at the County Headquarters in Kabarnet, marking a major milestone in the county’s development agenda.

Under the agreement signed by Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi, NHC Board Chairman Yusuf Chanzu and NHC Managing Director David Mathu, the project will be implemented in phases, starting with the construction of 100 units in the first of three phases in Sironoi, Kiboino, Kabarnet location along Kabarnet – Iten Road.
The Affordable Housing programme starts amid the expansion of Kabarnet Municipality in a 20km square radius.
“Subsequent phases will depend on the uptake and success of the pilot rollout,” said NHC Board Chairman Yusuf Chanzu.
Under the agreement, NHC will spearhead the technical and financial aspects of the project. This includes preparation of the master plan, project financing, contractor procurement and management, conveyancing and the setting up of a project-specific account to manage sale proceeds and recover investment costs.
In support of the project, the County Government of Baringo has committed to provide land and deliver key infrastructure – including access roads, water, and sewer systems. “We will also coordinate public participation while mobilizing local SMEs to contribute construction components,” Governor Cheboi affirmed.
