Cargo transporters targeted by thugs in ‘Kata Hema’ menace in Soin/Sigowet

The Deputy County Commissioner of Sigowet/Soin Sub-County in Kericho County, Felix Kisalu, has directed the immediate arrest of highway robbers targeting lorries in transit along the Kapsoit-Kipsitet road.
Kisalu identified the culprits as youth operating in the region, notorious for engaging in a criminal practice locally referred to as “KATA HEMA.”
“These individuals cut the canvas covering the backs of lorries as they ascend hills and steal cargo while threatening drivers. They force drivers to continue moving uphill as they rob them as the lorry moves slowly uphill,” Kisalu explained.
He has instructed police officers patrolling the highway to take immediate and decisive action to end the menace.
“Bwana OCS, with your officers, I expect you to take stern action to stop this. I don’t want to hear about this again—we need arrests. This is unacceptable,” Kisalu stated firmly.
The Deputy Commissioner also condemned the disturbing trend of residents attacking and robbing accident victims along the Kapsoit-Kipsitet stretch, calling it an act of inhumanity.
He urged locals to uphold moral decency and warned of strict consequences for those involved in such incidents.
