CFAO Kenya Brings World-Class Agricultural Machinery to Mombasa
By Shadrack Mutai
The coastal city of Mombasa is stepping into a new era of agricultural mechanisation following the official opening of a state-of-the-art Case IH showroom at Mnazi Mmoja by CFAO Kenya — one of the most significant investments in farming equipment infrastructure the region has witnessed in years.
The launch ceremony attracted senior executives from CNH Industrial, leadership from CFAO Kenya, and top officials from the Mombasa County Government — underscoring the strategic importance of the investment not only to the Coast region but to Kenya’s broader food security agenda.
A Strategic Investment in Food Security
Vincent DeLassange, Vice President of CNH Middle East and Africa, described Kenya as one of Africa’s most dynamic agricultural markets, noting that the new facility signals long-term confidence in the country’s agricultural transformation.
He emphasised that the partnership aims to support Kenyan farmers through world-class technology, reliable equipment, and continuous technical support — critical pillars in boosting productivity and ensuring sustainable food systems.
CFAO Group Chairman and Country Delegate Ambassador Dennis Awori echoed the sentiment, terming the Mombasa showroom a strong vote of confidence in Kenya’s agricultural future and Mombasa’s strategic role as a gateway to East Africa.
According to Awori, agricultural mechanisation remains fundamental to achieving food security, creating employment opportunities, and driving rural prosperity across the country.
County Leadership Welcomes the Investment
The Mombasa County leadership, led by Deputy Governor H.E. Francis Thoya and County Executive Committee Member for Blue Economy, Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives Hon. Ibrahim Khamis Mutwafy, lauded CFAO Kenya for the major investment.
They described the showroom as a key economic driver that will strengthen local farming capacity, improve yields, and create employment opportunities — especially as the county continues to prioritise partnerships that benefit local farmers.
A Complete Mechanisation Solution
The showroom features a comprehensive portfolio of Case IH tractors ranging from 55 to 700 horsepower, offering Kenyan farmers unmatched flexibility across five distinct series.
At the compact level, the JXT series (35–75 HP) is designed for small-scale and specialised farming operations such as greenhouses, orchards, vineyards, and intensive farming setups. With tight turning radii and adjustable tread dimensions, the models are suited for space-constrained environments while maintaining reliable torque and fuel efficiency.
The mid-range FARMALL JXM and JX Straddle series (80–98 HP) deliver robust performance for mixed farming and row-crop operations. Advanced transmission systems, strong hydraulic flow rates, and impressive lifting capacities ensure compatibility with heavy implements and diverse agricultural applications.
For large commercial farms, the Maxxum series (110–140 HP) introduces advanced engine performance and sophisticated transmission options, including Powershift systems, enabling greater efficiency in demanding operations.
At the top end, the flagship Puma series (155–185 HP) represents elite performance, delivering powerful torque, advanced electro-hydraulic systems, and high lift capacity for heavy-duty farming applications across challenging terrain.
Beyond Tractors: Full Farming Solutions
The Mnazi Mmoja facility goes beyond tractors. It stocks a wide range of implements, including ploughs for various soil types, disc harrows for seedbed preparation, boom sprayers with precision application systems, and planters equipped with accurate seed metering technology.
Farmers will also benefit from factory-trained technicians, genuine spare parts availability, and technical advisory support — significantly reducing downtime and the risks associated with importing equipment without after-sales service.
Why This Matters
From coastal humidity zones to Kenya’s highland farming belts, Case IH equipment has built a reputation for durability and performance under diverse conditions. The new showroom eliminates logistical challenges previously faced by coastal and regional farmers when sourcing machinery.
By bringing global agricultural technology closer to local farmers, CFAO Kenya is not just selling machinery — it is enabling productivity, strengthening value chains, and positioning Mombasa as a mechanisation hub for the wider East African region.
As Kenya intensifies efforts toward food security and agricultural modernisation, investments such as this signal a future where technology, partnerships, and local access converge to power the country’s farming transformation.
