Kenya Forest Service Meets Chepalungu Forest Association on Forest Management.
By Festus Ronoh | BOMET
As stipulated in the Forest Conservation and Management Act, 2016, the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) is required to collaborate with Community Forest Associations (CFAs) in the co-management of forests.
KFS is mandated to train CFAs on management practices and regulations that ensure proper forest conservation, sustainable management, and improved livelihoods for communities living near forests.

In line with this mandate, officials from the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) held a meeting with members of the Chepalungu Forest Association (CFA) at Mt. Zion Church in Chepalungu, Bomet County.
The meeting was led by Ann Simita, who represents the Community Forest Associations in the KFS Board. Discussions focused on key issues affecting the management of Chepalungu Forest, which both KFS and CFAs are mandated to co-manage.

Stakeholders emphasized the importance of cooperation between the community and forest authorities to ensure sustainable conservation, protection of forest resources, and promotion of environmental conservation efforts in the area.
