“Gen Z, Trade the Streets for Solutions!” – US-Based Auditor Urges Kenyan Youth

Kenya’s Gen Z have been urged to swap protest placards for purpose-driven innovation. This bold and timely call to action has been done by Patrick Kiptoo, a seasoned U.S. government auditor and Founding Director of Boma Tax and Consultancy based in New York and Nairobi Cities.
While Speaking to KASS TV, on the current wave of youth activism, Kiptoo, who boasts over 15 years in public auditing in the U.S., challenged the younger generation to channel their energy into entrepreneurship, especially in agribusiness, rather than recurring protests that risk derailing economic progress.
“Protests might get attention, but solutions build nations,” he said.
Kiptoo commended President William Ruto’s bottom-up economic agenda, citing it as a game-changer that’s turning Kenya’s financial fortunes around. He noted that under Ruto’s leadership, Kenya has managed to bounce back from a troubling economic blacklisting and is now showing strong macroeconomic recovery.
The numbers back him up: While Kenya’s economy was projected to grow at a modest 3%, it surged to an impressive 5%, with inflation dropping from a high of 9% to just 3%, despite the unrest and disruptive demos that have led to lost man-hours and dented global perception.
Kiptoo praised the government’s efforts in reviving agriculture, especially through fertilizer subsidies and the fortuitous rains. Thanks to these, farmers, particularly sugarcane growers who are reaping bumper harvests, reducing the country’s over-reliance on sugar imports.
His message to Gen Z? “Get creative. Get funding. Get farming. The future belongs to those who build, not just those who protest.”
