MP Johanna Ngeno Condemns Police Killings in Angama, Maasai Mara
By Nicholas Rono
Emurua Dikir Member of Parliament Johanna Ngeno has strongly condemned the recent police shootings and attacks on residents of Lolkuruk in the Angama area of Maasai Mara.
While addressing mourners at Olorien in Transmara South, where he was consoling families who lost loved ones during clashes between residents and police, the MP called for a peaceful and just resolution to ongoing land disputes in Narok County and other affected regions.
“The government must stop using excessive force on unarmed civilians,” Ngeno said. “Just recently, we witnessed the tragic shooting of innocent protesters in Angata who were demonstrating against the alleged sale of their land.”
Ngeno urged the Ministry of Interior to pursue non-violent and lawful means to resolve land conflicts, such as engaging local communities, utilizing the courts, and strengthening mediation efforts.
“This cycle of bloodshed must end,” he said. “It’s time for the government to engage the people of Transmara South and address the root causes of the land crisis once and for all.”
The MP’s remarks come amid growing outrage and calls for accountability over the handling of land-related tensions in the region.
