Kenya to Hold World Relays Trials on April 12 at Nyayo Stadium

As Kenya intensifies preparations for the Tokyo World Championships, Athletics Kenya has scheduled the national trials for the World Athletics Relays on April 12, 2025, at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi.

 

The trials will be a key step on the Road to Tokyo, with selected athletes forming Kenya’s team for the World Athletics Relays scheduled for May 10–11, 2025, in Guangzhou, China.

 

Trial Events

 

Athletes will compete for spots in the following relay events:

 

  • 100m (Men and Women)
  • 400m (Men and Women)
  • 4x100m Relay (Men and Women)
  • 4x400m Relay (Men and Women)

Exhibition Events (Non-Trials)

 

In addition to the relay trials, Athletics Kenya will host several exhibition events, offering athletes an opportunity to achieve qualifying standards for the World Championships in Tokyo. These events will also feature prize money for top performers.

 

Exhibition events include:

 

  • 110m Hurdles (Men)
  • 100m Hurdles (Women)
  • 400m Hurdles (Men and Women)
  • 3000m Steeplechase (Men and Women)
  • High Jump (Men and Women)
  • Long Jump (Men and Women)
  • Javelin Throw (Men and Women)

The athletics body has also announced that there will be prizes to be won during these trials and reiterated that the Relay Trials will be by invite only with a list of invited athletes will be released separately.

Finally, all participating athletes are required to collect their bib numbers on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Nyayo National Stadium between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
