‘I and my church will receive offerings from politicians’

Religious leaders have once again called on politicians to refrain from using places of worship as battlegrounds for their political agendas.

Simion Rugut, the leader of the Church of the Holy Spirit, has emphasized the need for mutual respect between political and religious institutions.

Speaking during a Sunday service, in Nandi,  Rugut acknowledged the importance of partnerships between the church and the government but warned against the misuse of the pulpit for political gain.

“The government should do its part, and the church should do its part. We should work together and respect all leaders while supporting the government’s policies and plans,” Rugut stated.

He stressed the need for harmony and urged church leaders to avoid planting seeds of discord among congregants and their leaders.

Addressing the contentious issue of tithes and offerings, Rugut took a clear stance.

“On matters of tithes and offerings, they are good and should be accepted. The church I am leading will accept them. Any leader, even the president, I will welcome them to my church,” he said.

However, he reiterated the importance of maintaining the sanctity of the church by keeping it free from political conflicts.

Rugut also had a message for politicians, urging them to respect the sacredness of places of worship.

“Political leaders should keep off using the church to further their political wars. There is a time for everything, and the church should be respected,” he said.
