Tourism CS Rebecca Miano Calls for Structured Events Calendar at Taptengelei Cultural Festival 2026

The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, has called for the establishment of a formal and institutionalized events calendar among counties and key stakeholders to strengthen and grow Kenya’s tourism sector.
Speaking at the Taptengelei Cultural Festival 2026, held at Tinderet in Nandi County, CS Miano said a structured calendar would enhance coordination, promote quality events, and ensure tourism activities meet set standards capable of attracting both domestic and international visitors.

The Tourism CS reaffirmed that her ministry remains committed to the vision and manifesto of President William Ruto, noting that the dream of transforming Kenya into a first-world economy is achievable through unity, strategic planning, and investment in key sectors such as tourism.
She emphasized that tourism continues to play a critical role in economic growth, job creation, and national development, adding that cultural festivals are vital in showcasing Kenya’s rich heritage and diverse traditions.

CS Miano commended event organizers, county governments, and partners for the strong coordination and collaboration that ensured the success of the Taptengelei Cultural Festival, describing it as a well-organized event with immense potential.
Looking ahead, the Cabinet Secretary challenged stakeholders to plan for a bigger and more impactful Taptengelei Cultural Festival next year, with the aim of attracting visitors from across Kenya and beyond its borders.

She noted that cultural events such as Taptengelei provide a powerful platform to promote culture, strengthen community identity, and position Kenya as a competitive global tourism destination.
