By Dennis kipchirchir
Tension is high in Eveready area after a section of the Nakuru–Eldoret highway collapsed, forcing motorists to share a single lane. The incident has disrupted transport along the busy highway, with traffic flow reduced and long queues of vehicles reported.
According to residents, the caving in of the road has become a serious risk to road users, especially at night and during peak hours. They are calling on the Kenya National Highways Authority and other relevant authorities to urgently intervene and ensure the road is repaired before lives are lost.
The collapse has not only slowed transport but also inconvenienced businesses that rely on the highway for the movement of goods and services.
As at now, efforts are underway to fill the gaping section of the road, but residents maintain that a lasting solution should be put in place to avoid similar incidents in the future.
