The 22nd edition of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon has secured a record KES 233 million in sponsorship, setting a new benchmark for Kenya’s premier road race.

With the marathon scheduled for October 26 at Uhuru Gardens, full capacity has been reached as 30,000 runners from 92 different countries have registered ahead of the October 10 registration deadline.

This year’s sponsorship marks a 35% increase from 2024’s KES 173 million, with 43 corporate and development partners contributing both cash and in-kind support. Standard Chartered leads the pack with a KES 130 million contribution, while KWAL and Prudential have backed the 21km and 5km Family Fun Run events respectively.

The marathon continues to serve as a key fundraiser for the Futuremakers initiative, which aims to raise over KES 75 million this year to support underserved youth across Kenya.

“We are proud to see both sponsor and participant numbers grow significantly this year. This strong turnout is evidence of the collective will to transform lives, nurture talent, and drive positive change through the Futuremakers initiative,” said David Mwindi, Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon Local Organising Committee Chairman.

Organisers have emphasized the growing impact of the marathon, not only in nurturing athletic talent but also in advancing community development. Enhanced support in healthcare, hydration, security, and logistics will ensure a world-class experience for all participants.

The marathon also reinforces its commitment to inclusivity, with tailored provisions for persons with disabilities and sustainable practices integrated throughout the event.
