Senator Cherargei Seeks Answers on Delayed Road Projects

By Kass Digital

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has put on alert the Cabinet Secretary on Transport and Roads for lack of reports on important construction works within the Rift Valley and Northern Corridor.

During the senate session, Cherargei expressed concern about the redesign and expansion of Eldoret–Kapsabet–Chavakali road and Kapsabet–Nandi Hills –Awasi–Chemilil road, and asked whether there are scheduled funds and timelines for completion.

At the same time, Cherargei was concerned about the growth of the Nairobi–Nakuru–Eldoret–Malaba highway expansion, specifically the construction of Rironi–Nakuru and Nakuru–Eldoret dual carriageway which is key in reducing traffic on the Northern Corridor.

He equally wants to know from the Cabinet Secretary who the contractors are and what the financing arrangement is.

Senator Cherargei has flatly rejected the excuses given on the implementation of the projects citing that after protocols and due processes are observed, the contracts should be quickly awarded without delays.

Additionally, Cherargei condemned the poor repairs on the Chepterit–Moi University road and demanded updates on stalled projects like Chemuswo–Danger, Tulwo–Chepterwai–Chepsaita, Kwa Magut, and Nandi Hills–Himaki.

He acnokwledged ongoing works on some roads but urged the ministry to speed up delivery across Nandi.
