Safaricom Hook Connects Africa’s First PUBG Mobile Cup Finals in Nairobi

Nairobi was the centre of Africa’s esports scene this weekend as Safaricom, through its youth platform Safaricom Hook (S-Hook), partnered as the official tech sponsor for the first-ever PUBG Mobile Africa Cup (PMAC) East African Finals at Charter Hall.
The finals brought together top PUBG Mobile squads from across the continent for an electrifying showdown. Fans packed the venue and tuned in online as teams battled for the first East African title in one of the world’s most popular battle royale games.
As the tech enabler, Safaricom Hook provided its ultra-fast 5G network, ensuring smooth, lag-free gameplay, crisp livestreams, and real-time content sharing for both players and fans.
“Gaming is no longer just a pastime, it is culture, creativity, and community. Through S-Hook, we want African gamers not just playing but rewriting the global script. At Safaricom, we see gaming as a serious driver of talent, innovation, and youth energy. That’s why we powered PMAC with our 5G tech because in esports, every second counts,” said Fawzia Ali, Chief Consumer Business Officer, Safaricom PLC.
The PMAC Finals weren’t only about the competition. Safaricom Hook transformed Charter Hall into a gamer’s paradise with fan zones, interactive gaming pods, exclusive content drops, and meet-and-greet sessions with pro players, making it a full-on festival for gaming enthusiasts.
The partnership builds on Safaricom’s continued investment in gaming and esports. In recent years, the company has hosted youth tournaments with Pro Series Gaming, launched the MobiPlay Challenge and ‘Wai Ndai’ online competitions, and powered the 2025 Otamatsuri Gaming Convention at KICC.
With PMAC, Safaricom Hook further solidified its place at the centre of Africa’s gaming growth – promoting esports not just as entertainment but as a career path and community for young people across the region.
