Narok Teachers Demand Justice Over Ojwang’s Death in Police Custody.

By Nicholas Rono

As Independent Policing Oversight Authority probes circumstances that led to the death of teacher and blogger Albert Ojwang in police custody, teachers from the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) in Narok County gathered at Kilgoris DEB grounds to honor their fallen colleague.

During the emotional vigil, which involved lighting candles in his memory, the teachers, led by Deputy Treasurer Robert Koech, called on the government and IPOA to intensify investigations and ensure that those responsible for Ojwaang’s death face the full force of the law.

“We urge the government and IPOA not to relent. Let the investigations continue until justice is served and those behind Ojwaang’s death are brought to book,” said Koech.

The teachers also urged the government to arrest all culprits, warning that failure to take action would lead to mass protests by teachers and students until their voices are heard.

“We will not remain silent. If no action is taken against the officers involved, we will take to the streets and demonstrate until justice is done,” they vowed.
