Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has warned that individuals who planned and financed recent demonstrations in the country will face the full force of the law.

Speaking during an inspection tour of the Bomet IAAF Stadium on Monday, Murkomen said security agencies are pursuing all those involved in the unrest witnessed across various parts of the country.
“From the day they started planning to the day calm was restored, we will arrest everyone from the financiers, to those who destroyed police stations, and those who looted businesses,” Murkomen asserted.

He described the demonstrations as acts of terrorism and vowed that suspects will be charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
“I want to challenge those claiming these were not acts of terrorism, you funded people to burn government offices, loot businesses, kill police officers, and take firearms. Isn’t that terrorism?” he posed.
The CS further dismissed those blaming the security agencies for making arrests saying they the notion that only those in forests can be terrorists, “Some believe people in suits can’t be terrorists. We will charge them all the same.”
Murkomen was in Bomet to assess the readiness of the IAAF Stadium, which is set to be the home ground for APs Bomet FC, recently promoted to the Kenya Premier League (KPL).
He noted that while the facility shows promise, further upgrades are necessary for it to meet the standards.

Present at the event were Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei, Deputy Governor Shadrack Rotich, and Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli.
