The public participation forum convened by the Public Benefit Organizations Regulatory Authority (PBORA) in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, aimed at operationalizing the Public Benefit Organizations (PBO) Act, 2013 — which will, upon implementation, be cited as the PBO Act, 2025.

Speaking during a press briefing, PBORA chairperson Mwambu Mabong highlighted key concerns raised by members of the public. Among them was the need to shorten the registration period for PBOs from the current 90 days to 60 days as outlined in the new regulations.

The chairperson also noted concerns over accountability, with citizens calling for stringent measures to eliminate so-called ‘briefcase’ NGOs that secure donor funds without delivering real benefits on the ground.
