Celta Vigo Seal Signing of Rising Kenyan Star Aldrine Kibet

Celta Vigo have officially confirmed the signing of Aldrine Kibet, an 18-year-old attacking winger from Kenya, on a contract running until 2029.
The club officially announced the signing of Aldrine Kibet on Wednesday, July 16, through a statement on their official website, following days of anticipation surrounding the highly rated Kenyan winger.
Kibet joins Celta on a free transfer and will initially link up with Celta Fortuna, the club’s reserve side, despite being officially registered with Celta Juvenil, the club’s youth team (U-19S). The promising winger impressed scouts during the recent U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, where he showcased blistering pace, technical skill, and a sharp eye for goal.
An international at the Kenya U-20 level, Kibet’s performance in the tournament was sufficient to put him under the scrutiny of the European club
The Galician club views the young talent as a long-term investment, citing his potential and creativity as key assets for the development of Fredi Álvarez’s squad.
“The sky-blue club bets on his projection and quality to keep growing and reinforce Fredi Álvarez’s squad,” read a club statement.
Kibet first rose to national attention in August 2023 after steering St. Anthony’s Boys High School, Kitale to victory at the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Games held in Kakamega.
His standout performances earned him recognition as Kenya’s Sports Personality of the Month for August 2023 by the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK). Later that year, he took a major step in his football journey by moving to Spain, where he joined the Nastic Sports Academy to continue his development.
